Default C5 Service question

I have about 18K miles on my 2002 and at the end of this month my original warranty will be out. I plan on getting an extended warranty. Besides getting an oil change should I have the dealer do the 15K service update. What is involve in that. And what should I expect to pay. Should I have them bother with the column recall. I have a mn6. Is there anything else that I should get done while I am there.

The first maintenance on the Vette is at 100K I have no idea what they are going to do at 15k it sounds like their trying to make some money. If you really want to do something though you could flush the brake fluid and cooling system antifreeze and clutch fluid. That would be a good thing to do. And if they tell you this doesn't need to be done find another dealer. They are waiting to replace master cylinders and calipers and radiators. Which brings in a lot more money than just fluid changes. There's my .02 and I thought there was nothing to do after 15k. But there are things to do after 3 years. I hope this helps. Let us know what you have done and why. We like to keep abreast of these things.

Never been much of a believer in those incremental dealer visits - what's the point. I follow the recommended intervals in the owners manual. Are they going to change the diff fluid and transaxle fluid all for a set price? I assume an oil change is in the works, too.

As far as the extended warranty - you might consider giving Fichtner a call after you get a quote from your dealer. They mark those GMPP's up quite a bit and Fichtner has excellent prices. Don't wait until it expires, do it before the expiration. Be prepared though, for a shock on the prices!

As far as the column lock recall - if they're going to remove the locking plate, have it done. If they are just going to flash the PCM, I wouldn't bother. Install the CLB and be done with it. Jmho, of course!

Give Fichtner a call, there is a huge price break with less than 24,000 miles. I got 3 years and 30,000 miles for $680.
