I brought my 2000 A4 coupe into the dealer Friday for an oil change and 50k mile service (tranny fluid, diff fluid) and replaced one of the serpertine belts. The next moring I was walking to the car from a store and it looked like there was some mud under the passenger side door. When I looked under there I found several deep scratches (~ 1/8 inch deep) on the underside of the rocker panel just below the back edge of the door (running the long way with the panel). There was shredded plastic still on the scratches indicating that the damage was recent. I'm the only one who drives the car and I just Zaino'd it the week before and there were no scratches. I suspect some nitwit in the service department did this with the lift. Any of you seen this type of damage before? I called my service advisor and he is going to look at tomorrow morning.
same thing happened to me when I got my car inspected. There are about 10 scratches that are at least 2 ft long. Couldn't prove it was them that did it.
Sorry to hear this, it really sucks and makes me not want to go to the dealer for ANY reason.
I do my own oil changes and worry if I ever have engine trouble my warranty will be in question. I don't care though, I won't take it in to the dealer unless absolutely neccassary.
I have damage exactly as you descibed and my car was in the dealer for the steering lock recall a week ago, don't know why it needed to be lifted but I'm the only one who drives my car and I did not hit anything.
