Default Tire installation question

Thanks for all the feedback on tire selection.

I have ordered Pilot Sport AW ZP tires. I got them from a local tire dealer. Will be in in a few days, they said they know all about handling the Corvette. I haven't any expereince yet with the Vette as far as jacking or tire changes etc. I do know they will have to have pucks to raise the car.

Anything else I should watch for?

Yes, they should remove your tire pressure sensors before they try to remove the old tires from your wheels. They do this by removing the core from the valve stem to let the air out, then unscrewing the retaining nut from the base of the valve stem and dropping the whole sensor into the tire. Then they can break the bead and reach in to take out the sensor. The installation process is explained here

PS - putting new tires on is a great time to put in sensors with fresh batteries....

Be sure they know about the tire pressure sensors, and that they have the equipment that will not put scratches in either the outer or inner surfaces of the wheels.

A lot depends on the type of lift they are using. Just about anything that will prevent direct metal contact of the lift arms with your rocker panels (even a piece of cardboard) will work, as long as they use the correct lift points on the frame.

I'd certainly ask to have the balancing done on a Hunter Roadforce machine, if you have a choice......

Thanks for all the feedback. I feel more prepared, didn't know if anything had to done with the stem sensor.

I just had new wheels put on, and the tire shop messed up three of my sensors, because of the way they did all the work. But they took care of me and I got three new sensors on them and I paid for one, so now I have all four new, Thank you Less Schwab, they were verry good about it and I think they will have a little classroom workshop on what they need to do about runflats and sensors
