Firehawk Wide Ovals
Time to buy tires for my '01 Z. This is my daily driver in rainy south Florida. I am contemplating the Firehawks because of good reviews on wet surfaces and mostly price. I am getting four tires for $736.00 out the door at my local firestone on Saturday. Does anyone have experience with these tires and are they worth trying???

I was able to get the guys at Discount Tires to match the posted prices of Tire Rack including installation here in Houston, (Clear Lake) unfortunately the rear tires arrived one week before the front tires. However, the benefit is I was able to drive with the Wide Ovals on the rear for a week and all though my test wasn't completely scientific there is a marked improvement in ride quality with the Wide Ovals and much less road noise is transmitted into the cabin from the Wide ovals. I've got a slightly modded '01 Z06 long tubes, no cats, ram air airbox, performance tune and a partition. I've noticed considerable better traction off the line; however I have noticed that the tires seemed to screech louder when they do start to spin. My guess is that is probably attributed to the different rubber composition than the F1's I had before.
