Default Any Problem Leaving The Top Down on VERT?

Can you leave the top down on the C5 for any length of time? I dont want the top to get ruined so if you leave it down for say a week or two will that cause any problem ? I keep the car in the garage. Thanks again.
Also, they sell a pillow type protector that goes beneath the top when toy fold it down to protect the glass. Is that any good or just leave well enough alone? Thanks, habib

I don't know about the protector, but I keep mine up for extended storage. it keeps the top stretched, and keeps dust (and spiders) out of your interior.

There was a member here who had a dead spider in his speedometer.

I haven't owned my Vert long enough to talk about long term damage from having the top down for extended periods but just keeping the inside of the car clean is enough reason for me to keep the top up.

Lurking for more info on the pillow thingy that is supposed to protect the glass.

Having owned both C4 and C5 verts I have experienced no damage in leaving the top in the stored position for a week. When I did put the top up I noticed several creases that relaxed after the sun warmed the top.

The pillow was designed to protect the PLASTIC rear light from scratching on pre-94 convertibles.

These are not like the vynal tops of old - I leave mine down for a week or two at a time all season long - it only goes up to wash it and mine is fine.

There is really no issue(s) with keeping the top down for extended periods (at least in my experiance).

I believe this offering was for the C4's - they had a problem when the top was stored the glass was rubbing on a cross member. Check carefully on if this option is for the C5.

0 problems w/the top by leaving it down on my end...especially if you're only looking at a week or two.

None, except those already mentioned. Mine is a 98 rag top and the top is starting to show some wear where the fabric rubs with the top down, but that is after 125K miles and a lot of it with the top down!

I put about 4K miles on mine topless last year. I put it up and leave it loose. As it shows the wrinkles and I did not want it to set in creases. When I wash it I I fasten it down till it drys. As I drove mine through some really bad weather I was worried about the wrinkles holding drit and showing up more. I also had some air pillow shipping that I place inside a towel when I fold the top down. Can't hurt

I agree that it would be best to keep the top up if it is going to be sitting for a long period. Keeps it's shape better and keeps the interior clean.
