Default center cap

I'm the owner of a new to me 1999 Coupe. A couple simple questions.
1. How to remove the wheel center cap, I have the standard wagon wheels.
2. Lug Nut lock... I'm guessing when I do get the cap off, that the
factory locks are on the wheels... but I don't have the key. What's the best way to get that off???

Thanks!

look in the trunk of your car...lift off in the passenger side bind, there is a place to store your lugnut key..it might be there.

Thanks... I've looked. The whole trunk trim/carpet has been removed when I dynamatted the trunk. No lugnut key!

The center caps are just sprung on, so carefully pry them off from the center. Hopefully you will not find a locking nut on each wheel. If you have searched everywhere in the car and its really not there (it is supposed to be in a small depression between the center and left storage compartment), then check in the owners manual package for a small white card that includes jacking instructions. I believe in the upper right corner of the card are two codes that will tell a dealer what replacement key you need. If you don't have the key or the card, take it a a good tire shop. People lose their keys all the time. Every shop seems to have an expert that can get them off without a key as quickly as you can get them off with the key.

The cap just pops off - take a flat blade screwdriver, wrap a rag around the tip and pry the cap off. Using the rag should prevent any scratches. It may or may not have the locking lugs on the car. There should have been a special socket in the driver side rear compartment for the locking lugs. If it is missing, then maybe there is a small white card that has the key code on it - take that to a dealer and order a new key.

If all else fails, a good mechanic shop should be able to get it off for you. Then there is the option of hammering a socket on the lug and removing it that way.

Thank You!!! I used the info to decied to dynamat the trunk. I need to do some more work for it to really pay off though. Not much change so far. I popped the center cover off, and NO lock lug nuts! Next step is to find a decent tire shop to put new rear tires on, and get lock nuts!
