Default Battery leaked.

I just found out that my battery leaked, I got an Optima, and I removed the battery plate, but how do I remove the wheel well liner? Can someone point me to where it explains how to do this?? Thanks.

Did your Optima leak? or is the Optima your replacement?

Well welcome to the baking soda club.
Hopefully the damage will not be to severe.
Remove the Pass Wheel. Then remove the small plate
at the rear of the fender skirting. This will give you
enough room for cleanup. I made a soupy paste to clean the
battery tray. (I would suggest removing for cleanup)
Placed a liquid paste in a spray bottle for
the rest. Take your time and carefully inspect the wire
harness. If it has eaten through it, you will need to open
it up and carefully clean each bundle. The electrical connectors
on the PCM will withstand a little water. I used a blower to
dry things out before I buttoned her up. Hope this helps.....

The close-out panel at the rear of your wheelwell is held on only by screws. There are several of them, including a couple up underneath the car. A 7mm socket works on all of them. After they are all removed just pop that baby off. You'll probably have a little dirt and other wheelwell crud all around it. Not to worry. HTH

Robert

BTW, the main wheelwell liner is BONDED to the frame near the top. Do not attempt to remove it unless you are replacing the whole thing. Just remove the access or "close-out panel at the rear of the wheelwell to do the work you need.

All good advice above. And really sorry to hear this happened. Let's hope it hasn't damaged anything to badly. Keep us posted. This is a great place to vent.

That's the routine. Hope you are able to neutralize all the acid and that no damage has occurred.
