I'm sure some of you have read my comments about how my Vette us usually dirty has hell, bugs all over the front and a thick layer of road crust. It is my daily driver. I though all of you guys that spend all day slathering the Vette with various types of Zaino and keeping it in the garage were....silly.
I think I understand now. I spent more than seven hours last night washing, deep cleaning, clay barring, waxing, waxing and waxing, detailing the inside and under the hood. I am actually sore all over from doing the whole "wax on / wax off thing".
Well, today it looks like it might rain and NFW AM I TAKING MY CAR OUT IN THAT MESS. It has to last more than one day. Look what this has done to me. I might have to buy another car as a daily driver. uuuugh.
EDIT: Oh ya, it is a 03' C5 coupe, torch red. Just to make this post appropriate for this forum

That's why I have a jeep! Makes a great daily driver.
I look at it this way. If it's raining on a track weekend I'm getting dirty and wet, so be it.
Otherwise, I like the car to look clean and polished when I drive around town and it takes a lot of time to get it there. If it's raining and gross I'm not exactly going to enjoy the vette to it's fullest anyway, so take the jeep. And, on top of it save some miles on the vette. Can't go wrong that way.

Ironic cuz' I embarking on my own 12-step program to drive more, in less than ideal weather. Probably comes from writing the insurance check in Feb, only to see winter keep it in garage for months.
I can drive it, I will drive it and not only when it's sunny out.
Dirt will not hurt it.
I figure if I say it enough times, I may come to believe it.

...
I got a DD with a 100,000 mile warantee. I drive it through all sorts of crap. (and most times, in a grey 4dr, you can blast right past a speed trap and the cop will not give you a second glance ) The vette comes out almost every weekend, if the weather is good.
I was out today and counted 11 vettes (all C5's) and ALL of them were spotless...IMHO that's the way it "Should" be. You already did the hard stuff, now just give her a wash weekly and a spritz of booster wax (it'll take you all of about 30 min.) and she'll always look nice. The way I see it is...she takes good care of you, right? So take good care of her.
I was going to get mine insured and on the road this weekend. But it's raining like crap out there and it's going to sit in the garage till it's sunny out there. End of story!!
My other car is an F-150. When it's not top down weather, the truck gets a run. Last summer, I think I went two weeks in one stretch with the top down. Of course, now I have some permanent wrinkles in the top, but that's how it goes.

Now you understand where we are coming from!! If you have multiple vehicles, there is no reason to take the best one out and get it dirty after all that hard work on making it cherry.
I have two cars covered up and put away at my place.. both are very nice looking cars that only come out when I want them too. I bet my neighbors think I am nuts!
