Default "Check Engine" light stays lit

My "Check Engine" light stays lit. I checked the DIC codes, and got

10-PCM P1416 H C (I assume the H means historical and the C means current).

Looking that code up in the list says it's the AIR System, Bank 2.

Anyone know what that means, and is is something that needs immediate attention?

Thanks.

Hey Dawg

No it doesn't need immediate attention. I get that about twice per year. I just reset the code and wait for the next event. There are two sensors that trigger those codes. One is easy to replace, the other isn't (as I recall it requires the manifold to be removed.) I believe that 1416 is the hard one, of course.

Try checking the gas cap. I had a similar thing happen last year. I unscrewed the cap then put it back on and twisted it around for a full turn. Haven't had the light come on since.

That took care of mine too. Now I make sure to give it a couple extra twists when I gas up.

i asked that same ? in c5 tech like 3 days ago..... it's most likely that air check valve behind the intake... looks like a PITA to get at but not very expensive to fix......there was a procedure posted on how to go about fixing it... i can't figure how to post a link to it but itsthere in c5 tech maybe a page or 2 back.. look for the post code p1416..good luck...

Howdy Talon

That seems to have done the trick. Many thanks go out to vettecop, kris, and Grumpy!

I took the cap off, tightened it again, started it up and the light was still there. Then I reset the code and started it up and the light was gone.

Where do I send my check?

My check engine light started to come on 6 mos ago. Sometimes it shuts off when fill up! I have received a 420 code, which the dealer tells me a bad bank in the cats. But I checked out my cats last week and they are not clogged. So I have no clue
