Default Soundproofing Mod

Just finished installing soundproofing mod. Kit came from exottic vettes and was a joy to install. Precut and helped with sound level and cut down on tunnel heat.

I recommend it.

I just completed the rear kit install in my coupe two days ago, and I also recommend it. Upon completion, I found that the center cover latches would no longer "catch." It turns out that the latch consists of 3 pieces which can be disassembled by hand. I just added a washer on the underside of the threaded shaft (to compensate for the added thickness of the insulation) and all is fine now.

How are your results with just the rear? I only want to tone down my exhaust at hwy speeds just a bit. Thanks for the tip on the hatch covers.

Sounds like a Mod that a lot of people are doing now. I've only had mine since December so I don't really know about tunnel heat right now. Was the tire noise cut down quite a bit? Is this precut better than the Frost King or just easier because it is precut. Tire noise is my main concern right now, but that might get alot better when I get rid of the runcraps.

getting seats out take about 5 min each. I have heard Frost king doesn't help that much on soundproofing.

I don't think it will make much difference for exhaust noise. The biggest reduction (road & tire noise) seems to come from covering the wheel wells and the hollow cavity beneath the center compartment.

I've seen several folks doing this mod. Can anyone tell me how much time to allow start to finish...either continuously or a couple of steps at a time?

So with any of the methods ... pre-cut; Frost King; etc. has anyone ever tried using two layers instead of just one?

I did the entire rear, using the pre-cut kit, in three hours. That included a 15 minute break to shoot the breeze with my curious neighbor, plus the time to fabricate a piece for the bottom of the center compartment (not included in the kit, but there is plenty of extra material included to cut your own). There is a lot of bending and reaching involved, so I think it goes quicker if you are taller (I'm ~ 6'2").

HTH!

I think he (djones14) means the "My Corvette Photos" link beneath his forum-name. The kit company website is http://www.exoticvette.com/. The owner is a member and Supporting Vendor - PM Crazy C5 Cowboy for CF member discount.
