Default Best Performing Intake/ Filter Combo??

OK.. I know this is subjective, BUT... what do you guys recomend for this. I live in Orlando, Florida and we get real "toad choker" rains in the summer, so I have ruled out the Vararam systems. I figure they would make GREAT snorkels though. Halltech?? K&N filters?? Your opinions ARE APPRECIATED!!! Plan to buy THIS week.
THANKS!!! Pop.

It's still Vararam. Maybe you should change your login to Skipper.
If you’re going to run in water above those front intakes, then opt for the USSUV Minnow.
Just having fun with this. I'm sure the one's you mentioned are good too. Good luck Pop.

I bought mine with a Vararam on it. I live in Mt Dora, very close to Orlando and mine is a driver so I was nervous with the rain issue also.
I bought a Haltech stinger and I'm sure it's better than stock.
Another forum member Dragonfly bought a Vararam for his driver and he has very acurately proven .3 improvement and 1-2mph in speed for the Vararam in colder weather down here earlier this month. His is a coupe not a Z. He has some rain holes drilled out to help with the rain and he went with a K&N.
I left the duct work for the Vararam in place to duct the air up to my Stinger, but I don't get the sealed benefits or the water intake worries.
Good luck, whatever you do will make some improvement.

I am on the east coast from Orlando and have the same rain (if not more) and have no trouble with the Vararam, but to be honest I try not to drive in the rain, more for the tires then the intake. The way the Varam is designed, you would need to go into a very deep hole or a river, which would kill regular cars as well as ours.

I have the Halltec Carbon-Fiber w/their Warhead filter and there's no doubt she gets much more air and sounds great! Also bought their FRC's.

I had the BPP vortex Rammer on my car for over 3 years. I lived in Melbourne and also spent a great deal of time in south east Florida. I got caught in many an afternoon thunder boomer and never had any problems. You have to drive into a very deep pool of water before hydro-lock becomes a problem. Just heavy rain will not cause a problem.

You will get the best performance from a true cold air system that gets its air from out side of the engine bay, both the rammer and vararam do that well.

If you are interested, another forum member Dragonfly, and I are heading to Speedworld this friday. He has a Vararam and you could actually see both systems. Also you could get a baseline for your car before MODS. They start at 6 I think, I'm usually there by 7.

If you're not going with the Vararam then I would say the Donaldson Blackwing. I have it on my 04 Z and am very pleased with it. There's a noticeable improvement over stock. It's a very easy install and fits perfectly. No issues at all. I'm sure all the others are good too but I can't say. But, as far as looks, quality, performance and ease of installation I would say the Blackwing is hard to beat. Good luck.

As usual, you guys have been GREAT with helping out.OK, I'm down to the Vararam. You guys in Florida made an excellant point in the fact I don't take my Z out in the rain anyway. I know it COULD happen with the afternooners we get in the summer, but it should be rare at best that I get caught in one. MY THANKS to ALL who left input and helping me make the decision. Pop.
