Well I know none of you use radar/laser detectors but I keep reading about them in Corvette Mag. and want to know if there is real world testimony about which is best.

Curious

It is split between the Valentine 1 (which I have) and the passport 8500. Both are good BUT neither will save your **** if you are the first car the trooper sees.

I have the V-1. I guess the Passport is OK too from what I read, but the fact that I can know if he is behind me or in front of me is something I don't feel I could do without, even if the passports were free.

I have the Escort 8500 X50 and love it BUT the quote above hit it on the head.

Also if the officer is using VASCAR (time and distance measurement) it won't matter which detector you have.

Asking which one is best is about like asking which wax...which color...etc. They both work very well.

Default V1 is my choice

Arrows, wins in rear detection, and the best resale value make the Valentine One the best.

I have the valentine 1. I like the directional arrows and I especially like the upgrade feature. As newer models come out, you can upgrade for a lot less than the purchase price usually. Good quality product. Dont forget that the detector cant save you in all situations. Your eyes are the best detector, but they sure are fun gadgets to play with.

Our real world input is both work well, and from an objective perspective neither seems to be significantly better than the other.
