Question on Techron Use.
I bought a bottle of Techron the other day as advised by many on this forum, but ahave a few questions on its use:
1.) Should it be added to a full tank or empty tank then filled?
2.) Does it need to be done before an oil change? I am just finding some threads stating that it effects the oil. I just changed my oil!
I have a 2001 with 11,000 miles on it.

-Instructions say to add bottle then gas, mixes better/faster. I have done both ways.
-Don't see how it would affect oil (without ring blow-by), especially if you don't use any oil.

I ask about the before or after filling because of the dual tanks. If added empty, will it go into both tanks and vice versa?

Instructions say to add before filling with up to 12 gallons of gas.

add before the gas, just like the rum goes in before the cola - it will distribute to both tanks faster that way.

No matter how you "mix" it, I think you need to drive it MORE!
All the best.

Just dont drive it as much as I do mine. When I picked up my 98 at the end of July 04, she had 14,100 on it. Now, she has around 28K

I put the stuff in my vette, they say to change the oil after to clean all the deposits you just washed out of the fuel lines and engine. How true this is i don't know, but i could image if your valves were really dirty, some of the carbon cleaned from them could get onto the cylinder wall and then into the oil. Anyone?

Put it in, then fill her up. Will distribute the stuff to both tanks faster.

Now there's a great analogy.

I do the same...before gas, about once every three months.
