the driver side window has a scratch running from top to bottom...i have the windows tinted now so the scratch is very visible....so keep us posted if it is a warrenty issue
I went through the "Bad Lands" in South Dakota last year and the amount of dust and c@#p in the air was unbelievable. If that stuff gets onto the stripping that the window goes up and down against it will scratch the window. Every so often I make sure I clean that stripping and it's amazing what kind of stuff comes out of it. It's sort of a felt lining to it and it harbors grit and dirt. I think it's a good thing to do to stop the windows from getting scratched.
I bought my 2001 in last Aug. and both the driver and passenger were scratched from top to bottom. I called the dealer just to see if that was normal and they said to bring it in that some of the tracks were to tight. They fixed both of mine. Good luck with yours.

If there is something misaligned in the door panels that is causing the window to scrape against metal and scratch it, I do not see why it would not be covered under a warranty. They should at least check out this possibility before turning you down. Maybe another dealer would be a good choice. Best of luck with the GM rep.
I have the same exact problem and two GM service center managers have denied the warranty claim thus far. The first dealership inspected the doors, found nothing wrong but reported that they "adjusted/lubed the window track assemblies." I tried and tried to get them to replace the glass, but after a long and drawn-out warranty dispute with the service manager I left. I went to another GM dealership and guess what, they looked at the car and found nothing wrong. Gee, perhaps because the first dealership had actually fixed the problem but reported nothing was actually wrong. Thus they cleverly avoided having to replacing the windows under warranty coverage.
To recap: There was a problem, the first dealership claimed nothing was wrong yet they fixed it by "adjusting/lubing the window assembly." Now all other GM service centers find everything within spec and I'm left with scratched glass on both sides.
It's not the GM warranty, it's these "deny/cover-up warranty coverage if at all possible" mentalities of the service centers.
