NEED TO KNOW exhaust/x-pipe compatable?
I ordered GHL Magnums and a Magnaflow x-pipe recently. I called Corvettes of Houston and the guy thought I had headers to install and everything. I was under the impression that you could replace the stock H pipe with the X? He says there's going to be cutting involved. I just want to install the exhaust system minus headers, and my x-pipe. Is there something I need to tell him before my car gets cut or can I avoid that altogether? Oh, and they're charging $160 to do this as well. Good price? Thanks for any help.

You will need to cut the stock h pipe in order to have the x pipe installed. The ends of the x pipe will then slide over the remaining stock exhaust pipes and will bolt into place with the supplied clamps. Once the x pipe is installed, the aftermarket exaust will bolt to the flanges at the back of the x pipe, just like the stock muffler used to bolt to the stock H pipe that existing perviously.I do not have any figures for you though regarding the price.

If you are not installing a set of headers and some new cats, then yes, you will have to cut the stock pipes in front of the H connection and then install the X-pipe. I did this to mine. I had my mufflers installed for $50 and the x-pipe was another $30.
