My 99 is going in for the spring tune up. It has the original 99 AC Delco Battery in it, and I think it's time for a new one. Can I stick with a new AC Delco battery in it or do I have to go for an aftermarket.

You can do anything you wish. Many folks here like the sealed gel-type batteries, to avoid the potential for a leaky mess.
Personally I run the Optima Red-Top 75/35 that I bought at Costco for $99. It has worked great for me, although there are some members who state they've had issues......
AC Delco no longer makes the absorbant gel battery. They now have the professional series. I had one put in on warranty last year and no problems so far. It can leak so I'm watching it like any other battery. I will switch to an Optima Red Top from Costco when I need to replace it.

The 75/35 Red Top to which I referred will be a perfect replacement for your 99 (I have a 98). There is also a second battery - the 34/78, which is dimensionally slightly larger, but will fit.
The 75/35 is 720 cold cranking amps, the 34/78 is 800 c.c.a.
The 34/78 can be identified by having the side terminals closer together, where the 75/35 has the side terminals all the way out to the edge. Again, either one will be a direct replacement.
As far as where to purchase, sorry but I can't help you. If there is Costco in Canada (I didn't know that!), I would imagine they would carry it. Why not give them a call.....
has anyone ever called optima? i called today and they told me the battery for corvettes is the 34/78. thats the one with a perfect fit..........i looking for a new battery and costco in schumburg, il. told me they dont carry the 34/78 red top? also heard it's tough getting the cables attached to the closer terminals..........what are most people using? thanks

I got one at Sam's Club for about $102. It was marked as 34U, and I called Optima and they said this was the 34/78. It fit perfectly, and no problem fitting the cables. I suggest making sure you get the Optima hold down bracket as it fits around the battery better. Optima makes a top cover for this model, which snaps on and gives a more finished look. I got mine at Mid America for about $18.
