Do CD-RWs work in the 12 Disc Changer
Just burned my first CD-RW, put it in the C5 and I get "0" tracks and then Err in the display. But it plays fine on another PC.
CD-R's work fine.

CD-R's work in my in-dash player but not in my changer. Some people's changers play CD-R's just fine. I have not been able to tell what the difference it (IE: model year changes, etc.).

A quick tip if you can't play CD-R or CD-RW's , burn the cd's at lower speed ( no more then 16x ) I noticed my cd-changer will not play anything burned at higher speeds.
Dont ask me why I dunno why is that

Advanced
I have the 12 disc trunk-mounted CD player and found that it can only play original CDs and CD-Rs. I tried CD+R and CD-RW and CD+RW formats at different recording speeds but they can't seem to be read by the changer.

I've got a 12-disc factory installed DELCO changer in my '97 Cadillac. I find that the magazine is completely compatible with my '04 C5s 12 disc factory installed changer and CD-Rs play the same in both.
The point here is, the DELCO in the Caddy was built in 1996 whereas the one in the C5 was built in 2003 (C5 was built 1/04).
There seems to be no difference between the two changers after 7 production years. I can't tell ya' how nice it is to be able to swap magazines between the two cars.
..rickko..

Update:
Tried the CD-RW at lower burn rates down to 2x and still did not work. Will use the CD-Rs instead that do work. Wanted to use the "RWs" so I could add music to certain CDs.
Thanks for all your info and help.
Tip:
Always use CDs and DVDs with the "-" Minus sign instead of the "+" plus sign.
BTW:
If you want to really hear how great your stock Bose sound system is...
Get a copy of the 70's instrumental "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter Group.
When the drum roll-around section of the song hits you can really hear the separation among your speakers, by far the best demo song I have heard to show-off your sound system.
Crank it up until your side mirrors vibrate!

I have never had any problems with CD-R 's playing in my 12-disc. One thing that may HELP. When you burn a CD try burning it at the highest bit-rate available. MS Media player's default is 128-kbps. Most CD's are recorded anywhere from 300 to 500 kbps. You need to go into the settings menu to change this. The sound you get is much better than 128 kbps. As a matter of fact it will sound as well as the original recording. The drawbacks are that it takes up much more room on your hard drive to store, at this setting. I have close to 60 Gigs on my hard drive now. But I have never had any problems with this format working in any cd players. I do not know if the other CD formats will work with this, would be good to give it a try. I am no expert but this is just my 2 cents. Hope it may help someone.
