I went from 320rwhp to 374rwhp, with cam and the addition of 3.37 rear gears. Not to mention it soudns better revs faster and higher....and just makes the car more fun to drive!
Depending on the cam lobe specs, it will add more horsepower and torque. It could add a little, or a lot. Of course the more radical, the less streetable your car becomes.
It could add HP & torque at lower, middle, or higher RPMs, or all three depending on what you want.
A basic question you'll want to answer before you select a cam is where you want the power (ie. in what RPM range). Some people want it off the line, some in the mid-range and others want power at the high end of the RPM range.
A cam will alter engine performance probably more than any other 'single' modification you make so you really want to know what you want, power-wise, before you make your selection.
I have no cam experience with auto engines but am fairly well experienced in aftermarket cam/Harley applications.
Thanks for the info gents. I just watched the video vstella put up with his cammed vette, boy it sounds awesome. Would love my vette to sound like that.
