We got this picture sent to the original mag red site a while back, it has all 3 colors (Carmine, MR, MR II) available at the time. No anniversary model pictured as they weren't out yet. (Note: the site is being redeveloped with some fun new features, so if you have a carmine or mag red and want to be listed with your brothers and sisters you can go check out the site now if you like. It's mostly functional, with more features planned.
My '97 is Carmine Red and I love it. EB is the only other color that I think comes close!
No doubt, That red is magnificent.... I am looking at buying a 03 Z in EB... if there was a Z in the MR, I don't know... it would be a toss up... I would probably go with the MR, even though I think EB is one of the most beautiful colors out there.. .there is something about that Candy apple red look on a Vette... I just wish they made the red Z in a MR instead of the ghey torch...
Sorry torch red vette owners... I think its just too flashy and "hey look at me, im a vette owner" bright... It makes the car look cheap... like the red you'd find on a Dodge Neon... The Candy Apple look is just brilliant.. I wish they had the Z in it!!!
Thanks for the clarification! From shopping for touch up paint, I knew they doubled up on the RPO. Have to check the build sticker again to see what I actually have!
GM uses RPO codes like that all the time (re-using them in later years to describe a different color).
RPO's are nothing more than codes used for dealers to order cars and the Assembly plant to build them.
For Instance the RPO code for the 98 Pace Cars, Radar Purple Mettalic, and 02 & 03 Electron Blue are all the same too. This should never cause any confusion though since ordering and building a car is all these numbers are used for.
The RPO codes are often mistaken by owners as paint codes, they are NOT paint codes at all.

If you don't know what your are talking about it would be best not to post as factual. Check below for the model year and colors. And if you don't believe that, the actual paint codes with the years are reflected below the picture. Remember "If you put both feet in your mouth, you won't have a leg to stand on"

As noted above the RPO code will tell you nothing about it being Mag Red I or II, you will need to check your WAxxxx Paint Code number to be 100% sure which one you have!
You need to see the RPO tag inside the car to get your WAxxxx Paint Code.
Where is this one located? Not on the Build sheet but may be the reason that Body shops have a problem with 41U. I've been told that there 10 or so "formulas" for Black Corvette by 3 different shops.
