Default Long Road Trip

I've collected the necessary things for my long road trip I have ahead of me except for a few items. So far I have:

Tire Repair Kit
12V Air Pump
Glow Sticks
Fire Extinguisher
Extra Quart of Oil
Lots of CD's
Insurance Cards

All I need now is a clear bra for my Tigershark and a mini tirejack. Can I just get one of those jacks from a Mercedez Benz dealer? I need one before the 15 or so. Also has anyone ever tried putting plastic wrap on their car? I was thinking about doing that as a trial run to make sure it works and not wrap it so it'll catch wind. Anymore suggestions would be awesome thanks.

Here is a picture of a small scissors jack that I set up with a built-in puck. It came from my local Northern Tools store. Added the eye bolt, nuts and washers from Home Depot. Its not quite as compact as the "mini-jack" from Germany, but it might give you an alternative based on your timeframe.

Is this the same jack everyone has been talking about? Also does VW use the same jack? From what it looks like they are the same. Thanks.

Has anyone ever used plastic wrap on their car to protect on road trips?

Sure looks like it. The E-bay picture is of the jack totally collapses, so its sort of hard to tell.

Plastic wrap? For what exactly? This is a new one on me and sounds a little crazy......and I don't even know yet what you intend to do with it!

Wrap the front end and keep it from being chipped. I'd use a few layers and make sure it wraps in a way not to fly off. Since no bra or anything is made for the tigershark, I say I'm up for using "out of the box" thinking. Any other suggestions?

I'm sorry, but the thought of "saran-wrapping" the front of a C5 is beyond my imagination. Lots of folks go with the GM bra. Looks good, fits well and you can find it reasonably priced from the forum vendors.

Sorry, didn't initially catch the tigershark front end. I understand the problem, but I can't see that saran wrap would work! What about the 3M films made specifically your this application.

OK....you don't honestly believe saran wrap is going to stay put on the front of a car going down the Interstate do you I can't even get the stuff to stay stuck to a plate of leftovers in the fridge!

How are you planning on applying it......with pop rivets?

LOL, I plan on wrapping it around very tight and taping it inside the wheel wells. I'm gonna try it out first, but someone said they did it and it worked for them. I'm gonna try it locally first and go from there. Who knows, it might work. I'll take pics though. I really don't want a bra cause the paint is still kinda fresh on it too.

I actually tried to do some searches last night on the forum and it seemed to be working. You should research the 3M or Cleartastic films that are made for this application. Some of the forum vendors stock it. Lots of folks prefer this film rather than a bra.

Please let us know if you try the "saran wrap". Sorry to say IMHO, saran wrap and tape just shouldn't be allowed!
