Here's what I found (and learned from C5D and Runamuk).
The front bushing has to be cut in order to get any drop. I did and got 1/2 AN INCH!!! Hardly worth the effort, but it's still lower.
Anyway, I also cut the rear bushings. It dropped nicely but was way too harsh of a ride for me. I've always felt the MSRC was such a beatiful ride cruising down the road, and this really made it hard.
Long story short, I restored the rear to stock and left the front a little lower. It rides fine now.
Check out this thread. It's for a Z06 but works the same.
I lowered my 04 CE Coupe yesterday. Front bolts only had 3-1/2 & 4 turns before they stopped. Lowered rears 4 turns and still have at least 2 more turns available. Appears to me that MSRC cars come lower from the factory. Once car settles, I will post results.
When I had my F55 car, I could put the rear in the weeds with just the bolts, but the front did not go down at all. I raised it back up and sold the car and got a base sup. car to lower.
03' Mag. Ride Control, Cut Front bushings off and lowered bolts all the way, lowered rear to 1 & 1/2 threads showing without cutting bushings.
19/20's wheels. The ride is VERY comfortable, slightly stiffer in turns...I think I got 1 & 1/4" drop in the rear and 1" in the front. Had to get it aligned twice even after waiting 8 days and 200 miles after lowering it. I'm VERY happy with the results.
How did you get yours aligned, nobody would touch mine that low, had to raise it back up
Local Chevy dealer's service center. When I asked the service writer if they would be able to get it on the lift to align it since I lowered it he sort of gave me a "look" kind of like, "Why the hell would it be a problem for us to align it"? Most dealership service centers have step-up ramps attached to the lifts. The only reason I had to get it done twice was because the car hadn't completley settled after the first alignment, they did the second one for free
