Default Trunk space in the Z....

Hi guys...some might know, but I recently bought a Z, but won't pick it up until the end of the month when I go for a 3 month trip to NJ. Anyways, I am flying out there and wanted to know about trunk space. I will have one suitcase and golf clubs....

I have a 2000 coupe now, and use to own an FRC...but can't remember how much room I'll have in there. If I have to, I can throw my sticks in the front seat since I'll be driving it down to Florida alone...THOUGHTS??

Unless you have a big suitcase or a staff bag for your clubs you should be fine. I can fit two average size golf bags or one golf bag and one duffel with room to spare. You might want to go with a soft style suitcase so you can mold it into the space.

Good Idea....I think I will shop around. Plus the samsonite I have weighs a lot empty...I have a regular Nike stand bag, not a staff one...but I might have the soft traveling case with me...

You must have large golf bags, I can easily fit two sets of clubs & 2 sets of luggage with room to spare.

You'll be surprised how much room you'll have

3 sets of clubs, two soft bags and then you have the front seat. When I take it to the track, I have tools, bags and a spare front wheel. This is one of the best features of the Vette.

How true. Overnight luggage for two and still room in the trunk to do the deed with my fiance.

Not something I'd attempt at a rest stop in a coupe...a little too much glass for a modest couple.

With the partition in, I can fit two sets of golf clubs behind the seats and fit all the luggage I need for two in the trunk plus cleaning gear
When I unload the Z people can't believe what I can fit in there
Golf club space and luggage space is what sold me on the Z

Enjoy your new Z

Thanks STANO...I'm getting excited and I won't be able to see it for a few weeks. Thats when I have to go out to NJ for a TDY and then I will have it out there during my 3 month stint....

Glad to hear I should be good to go with trunk space for what I'm bringing...

2 average size bodies w/out the partition. Gave 2 drunk firends a ride home one night and had 4 people in the car. Yes I got pulled over but the cop was happier in the fact that I was driving 2 addional people then letting them drive. Corvette guy that had never seen more than 2 people in a C5.

My wife and I love to play golf in St. George Utah!
We've played all the courses there and in Hurricane Utah!!
We pack the sticks and enough crap to last a week
We've thought about retiring there one day
We've seen that place grow 'BIG TIME' over the last 25 years!!
Beautiful country for sure

The trick is to use soft luggage, like several duffle bags or large gym-type bags that you can work into the spaces. Plenty of volume back there, you just have to use it carefully. Slacks, a jacket or "her dress" can lay across the other bags, just under the lid. Obviously, a partion ain't in the program, but the added stuff back there acts as a sound deadener anyway. I did a 10 day road trip with a girlfriend in my 2000 FRC, with plenty of room for significant clothing amounts. It just took careful planning and a little "test fitting" before it came time to turn the key.

As an aside, I picked up a pal of mine at the airport recently, who flew in to go to the Amelia Concours event a few weeks ago. Dumb SOB brought a single large suitcase...he should have know better...he's a car guy and he's driven my car many times. It was a no-go for the trunk. So.....he crawled behind the seat and laid on his side, his suitcase went into the passenger footwell (and above). I punished him plenty while he lay back there with nothing to hold on to!

Default indiffernet sales people

I looked at a new 03 vert in 04, top down. When I asked the sales guy to show me the trunk he didn't bother to put up the top. I decided that there wasn't enough luggage space for my wife and I to travel with luggage and golf eqip. There was a Z right next to it, but he couldn't even be bothered to show it. He did try to tell there wasn't much performance difference. I never did go back to that dealer.

A year later I was driving by a Chev lot when I spotted a new 04 Z. I pulled a u turn in the Expedition. The sales guy (in his late 60's) walked out. My first words were, I need to look in the trunk. Without a word he hustled back inside, got the keys and opened the trunk.

I grabbed my clubs from the Ford and they disappeared in the Z. I could not believe the luggage space. My previous vettes were 68's and 72's. The sales guy knew I was serious. A week later it was mine, didn't even test drive it.
