[Z06] Stinger vs. TRAP

I have a TRAP on my Z06 - I never have used a Stinger, but I would think the difference is not terribly noticeable. I cannot provide a dyno comparo.
I will say this - either way you are dealing with a very good company - Jim and his wife took very good care of me when I bought my carbon fiber trap setup.
I noticed more intake noise from the TRAP setup compared to stock - that was a good thing in my opinion - sounds kinda like an old 4bbl opening up the secondaries.

Halltech has a dyno section that shows the difference between the two. The Stinger installs in 5 minutes and has about 5 -10hp less than the Trap which is more difficult to install. You should really cut open the front center section (license plate) also for the Trap. I have to have a license plate on the front or else I would consider the Trap.

This is a TRAP -

It is a cold air intake setup that replaces the stock airbox, filter and airbridge (the duct from the airbox to the throttle-body).

Different, yes, better, maybe -
I thought the Vara-Ram had a lesser quality of build - cheaper materials etc.
Both kits offer improved performance and are (IMO) a dead heat in terms of gains.
The TRAP is much easier to install, and I think it looks better underhood - that's just opinion mind you.
The Vara-Ram fits under the hood without touching - it has been my experience that the Halltech airbridge will make contact with the underside og the hood and if not properly positioned just so, it can cause a slight bulging of the hood near the center front. No big deal but I thought I would mention that.
Both companies are A+ in terms of customer support - either company will make sure you are a happy customer.
For me, it came down to the look of the setup - I liked the carbon fiber TRAP and went that way after I had bought a VR1B (never installed on car).
I would hope someone with a VR1B will provide comments, as I never ran one on my car. I have heard some happy testimonials for VR's....

When I'm not running bone-stock, I run a Halltech Tric, which isn't made any more. The Trap is a worthy successor.

That is also a good setup - I have that on my 99 coupe and like it. It is easy to get to the filters on that type of intake, and it was easier to install than even the Halltech (just becuse you do not have to go under the car to put it in like on the TRAP. )

I have a new Stinger coming this week. I will let you know what the thing does when it starts to breathe for the first time.
