Default Anyone replace the lock in center console.

Need to replace it. Being that it would need to be keyed to the ignition key, is this something that I can do myself or does it need to be done by a dealer?

Is there a lock in the center console? Hadn't looked.
Never use it for anything.

Just outside on the driver seat side. Mine is gutted. Would like to fix it for those spring/summer days with the top off.

CJ,

My keys were stolen a few months back. I grabbed my spare keys, went to Hudiberg Chevrolet and explained my situation. They told me that I had to have my door lock and my ignition swapped out. I asked them what the process was, the cost and the turn around time.

They advised me that they are unable to perform this surgery. They further advised me that a local locksmith is who they have referred other vette owners to for scenarios such as mine. So I went to my nearest locksmith and told them that I needed my door and ignition exchanged and re-coded. $50.00 per door (thank god only the driver side has the lock) and $150.00 for the ignition. Process took roughly 4 hours. I had two new sets of keys with FOB's.

You may want to 86 the dealership and go to a locksmith and tell them what you need. They may be able to help.....God forbid my dealership perform such a task after I purchased their flagship.

Good luck and PM me if you need any help

4RE Killer, unreal that the dealer couldn't do it, however did the lockmsith replace the keys with similar keys that have that theft deterrent chip system built into the key?

Was curious....thanks....
