Hood Seal Installation
Not wanting to screw this up, someone please tell me what surface the double-sided tape goes on...the horizontal or vertical edge? No instructions with the seal, and it has two flat surfaces (one with the tape on it). I assume (and you know what happens when you assume!) that the untaped flat surface butts up against the leading vertical edge of the front fascia, with the sticky surface on the bottom...but I only want to do this once. Thanks in advance...
If you're gonna install it on the horizontal surface, make sure you set it back a few centimeters. If you butt it up all the way to the front, the hood will pinch a little of the seal up when you close it, and you'll see the seal. Just a couple words from experience!

The one I bought actually had the "bulb" (not sure what to call it?) portion of the seal a little offset to one side. I first installed it with the "bulb" towards the front (adhesive side on horizontal surface). When I closed the hood, the seal was pinched in the opening. I carefully removed it and turned it around to where the offset was towards the engine. Now the seal is positioned just right with nothing protruding through the gap!!
Now I'm no professional but I have installed my hood seal on 3 different times. I have cleaned the old tape on here, cleaned and retaped it and it still comes undone.
If it doesn't work this last time, I'm taking it to a professional.

V.VET, I've got your dog's twin.... Bondo
Mark,
Oh no!! Surely Bondo isn't Tobey's twin!! I thought the mold was broken after this 11 yr. old dog was born. After being nuttered, 3 obedience schools, and several months of Prozac (dog strength), he still chases and bites everything in range, even me sometimes!!
Hang in there on the seal....you'll get it right!!

I put one on the horizontal AND the vertical edge. Wonder how? Simple...I'm using the tear drop shaped seal. 1/4 thick Fits perfectly on the horizontal edge (didn't even bother moving it back.) Then I placed the 2nd seal on the vertical edge. Both edges of the seal meet exactly at the crease. (Nothing's getting under my hood).

Randy
Randy,
Well not exactly the same. I had him house trained in the first 3 days. He chewed a telephone cord and a speaker wire on the 4th day and NEVER again.
Best dog I've ever had.... (out of over 20)
BTW, ignore the plastic truck shell, it was funny at the time... the poor dog looks humiliated...lol.
