NAPA Rotors
We bought our car about 3 months ago and today, I replaced the rotors and pads. I chose NAPA for the simple reason that we use the car primarily as a DD, and we are not hard on the equipment. I didn't want to shell out a lot of cash just for bling. Anyway, I know the previous owner had also used NAPA rotors and mid grade ceramic pads, because I asked him. I had a lot of pulsating when braking, and today I found out that three of the four rotors had cracks in them on both the inner and outer face. Of course, I don't really know how the previous owner drove the car, but I do know that it was his DD. I'll keep everyone posted about how these things hold up under normal driving conditions. But I'm thinking that if you are going to do anything more than daily driving, I'd find something else that might hold up better than these.
There seem to be a few bad apples in the bunch with the NAPA rotors, but most of the Roadracing guys (including myself) use those rotors and have found them to be as good if not better than the nicer rotors.
Didn'tSettle...I've been using NAPA for the last four changes for the exact reasons you noted. Mine is a DD and is just at 125K miles. I won't say I'm overly hard on the car (preserving the clutch) but once I'm up over 20mph I'm fairly spirited. You won't find me in the right lane cruising the limit.
They're dirt cheap and highly effective for daily brakes. I also use the stock GM pads too. This car can stop and I've yet to see any cracks in the rotors when I change them out. I change them out at around 25K miles a set.
I wouldn't condemn NAPA at this point. Unless you try them yourself everything else is hearsay.

I agree about not condemning NAPA rotors. I have no idea how many miles were on the rotors, and the car has 70K on it. I did note that ALL of the new rotors were made in Canada, and sometimes you get mix 'n' match when ordering from NAPA. (USA/CAN)
