can detonation exist without being audible?
I installed the Predator tune today and with 91 octane (which is all that I can get here) there was definite knock at WOT.
I backed the timing off 5% and it almost all went away. Then I bought a botle of Lucas octane boost and backed off the timing by 7% and the car pulls HARD now with no audible knock.
Can anyone chime in whether or not I might still have some detonation if it isn't audible? I don't want to damage my engine if I am getting detonation and can't hear it under WOT.

Detonation can be there even if you don't hear it. A knock sensor picks up different frequency then the human ear. It can detect knock while your ear will not hear it.
I think that the ECM pulls out timing even before knock occurs. So you will not hear anything yet the ecm will be pulling timing.
I have tested this with my 86IROCZ, the vette should not be all that different?
Do the C5's vette uses knock sensor? Maybe they are a different kettle of fish?
If the knock is bad then you will hear it.
If you don't hear any knock then it should pretty good
