After seven years it could be the battery which would mean replacing the unit. - C.

As indicated the sensors are battery powered and will eventually fail. I've read estimates of 7-10 years. You could also be actually loosing air. Have you had any wheel work done? Have you verified the reading with a pressure gauge? There is an o-ring where the sensor attaches to the wheel and they can get pinched or worn.

Apply a strong magnet to the base of the valve stem. I have found it to revive the unit to operate satisfactorily. Good Luck !

OK, you say you add air but you don't see it reflected in the DIC - is that your situation?

If so, then first off you will not see any pressure change reflected in the DIC until you drive for a little while, the sensors go to sleep after standing still for a while. Next as far as the battery being a problem, you should see a Service Tire Pressure System soon type message if any of your sensors stop communicating, so unless you're seeing something like that , I doubt you have a battery problem.

So, could you fill in a little more detail for us? Does the pressure reading remain constant after you add air then drive for a little while, and is it isgnificantly different from what you read with an external guage? Do you see any pressure reading for the wheel in question on the DIC, or do you see xxx? Do you still smile when you're driving?

Default 1999 C5 Sensor Problem

More information:I have used several air guages and they read 38-40 lbs. But the sensor shows up at about 23lbs everytime, if I drive it will go up to 24 lbs but never above that and it drops to 22 lbs, but never below that reading. The sensor displays low RR reading and then I reset and it will be ok for about 8-10 minutes and repeat the message low RR , this goes on until I am finished with my drive.

Thanks for all of the helpful suggestions, I will apply the ones that are applicable.
