Default Somebody Help...Crickets In My Engine!!!

There was a thread some time ago about a light chirp that comes from the engine compartment, that eventually grew louder. What is that noise from? I remember something about harmonic something or other, but I'm not sure. I got my baby out of storage over the weekend and the crickets are singing to me now. Not too loud, but louder than when I put her away. Any idea on repair cost?

Could be one of the belt tensioner pulleys....had that happen to me. Changed the top one first, but kept on. Turns out the be the one on the bottom that caused my chirp...

Seems to me it is usually attributed to either the belt or the idler pulley, I don't think either is too expensive...

Had my belt tensioners replaced and the nose went away.

try making a stethoscope out of a piece of 5/8" heater hose and see if you can isolate it. Could save you some time and $$$$$$

The sound could be a pulley or the tensioner. You may have to just take a close listen to see if you can isolate it down to a particular component.
