Last week I was driving into work and in the process of changing lanes ran over a big board in the middle of the road. Needless to say, it probably fell off of some ******* pickup truck driver who was too lazy to tie their stuff down to the bed. Just as a side note, a rock that fell of of a dump truck cracked my windshield a few years ago, so this is a very annoying, expensive problem. I ran over the board on the left side of the car, and now I get a good shaking when I run at speed. The wheels don't look bent, so I don't think that's the culprit. It only happens at certain speeds, and makes no difference if I'm coasting, or have got it in gear. I plan on taking it in, and hope that it simply put one of the wheels out of balance. But before I take it to the shop, I was hoping to get some benefit of experience from the group. Any ideas as to what it could be/what I should expect??? All feedback is appreciated!
They're still there. Anything else to look for specifically? Is there anything under the car that could have been damaged due to a board hitting it hard?
dude get it checked, when i was a punk teen ager i had a 3 gen camaro and my girl friend ran into a drainage ditch. a few days later the lower ball joint broke and the wheel came up and crushed my fender.

Good thought. Another may be a bubble in the sidewall of the tire. I got that two years ago on my Miata going to a NASA event. It had the same symptoms.
Is a pretty bent up rear left wheel. Couldn't see it because it was on the inside. I'm going up to West Coast Corvette tomorrow to pick up a new one. Gonna cost me 340 bucks. It sucks. I just wish people could keep stuff in their vehicles and not let debris all over the road.
Also, the guys a goodyear tire in Huntington Beach, CA were real cool. Got it up on the jack, saw the problem and didn't charge me a cent. Thanks guys!
