I think the avatar changing champion has got to be DaBoz, though. He's got some hilarious ones...

How is changing from the OEM stock runflats to non-runflats not count as a mod? It meets every criteria of yours:

IMO, a mod is anything that substantially changes the appearance, performance, or handling of the vette.
Different tires than the OEM runflats do all of those

This sounds vaguely like a "Final Solution" to all the non-pure sigs out there...

1. Changing tire brands is not a mod; changing tire size is.
2. A steering wheel decal is not a mod. A replacement steering wheel from Vette Essentials is.
3. Lowering on factory bolts is not a mod. Lowering with longer bolts, cut bushings, and a bump steer kit is.

I have California air in my tires, versus the Kentucky air that came from the factory. Is that a mod?

I think that about covers it!

No sense in getting real picky as to what is or isn't a mod. If the owner considers it one, then that is OK by me.

You're right - I forgot about that one.

BTW guys, this was a legitimate question intended to promote a friendly discussion. No one is dictating anything to anyone. I can see that I failed miserably.

I think a mod is anything for your Vette that drains your wallet besides maintenance stuff.

BW1-

If you would have mentioned this in your original post the natives would have been a little more friendly I suppose. Some of them do have thin skin you know, not me of course.

A mod is anything that you do to your car that you tell your wife it costs 1/4 of what it really costs. The great news is that if you ask her the car handles much, much better, shifts better, sounds better, runs a whole lot faster, looks better with the new wheels all for about $1,000.
