You fly in to get the car. You get there, check it out, and if it's what you thought you were getting, you give them the money. With it only being 1000 miles away, I would not pay before seeing it.
Drive it!!! January of this year I flew to Allentown PA in a blizzard to pick up my Z06 and loved every minute of the drive back home to San Diego. That drive makes yours seem like a drive around the block. Drive the damn thing
Oh yeah, how long would it take to get from FL to DFW anyone?
I live in plano, and it took my friends and i almost exactly 24 hours to get to miami, non-stop. It is a long grueling drive if you don't take any breaks, but if you were to then it would be fine. I enjoyed most of the ride and i was driving a camaro, so I know you would LOVE the drive because you were making it in your new vette. I vote to fly there and CRUISE back. enjoy and post pics when you get back!
My son & I flew almost 1000 miles to central Ca to get ours. We flew down Fri morning and had the Vette in the driveway by 3PM on Sat. I let my 17 yr old put 400 miles on it over the 2 days of driving and it was a great experience.
Even if you do it yourself, its worth it.
Timing can be important we drove from 5PM til midnight and then from 5:30 am till early afternoon ........ means many hours of very light traffic.

I'd like to make a suggestion. When you buy your plane ticket, buy a round trip ticket in case it's not what you want.
Everyone remembers my ordeal of buying a beautiful '01 vert off ebay in Texas. I flew to NC and found out it was a complete POS even though I talked to the owner SEVERAL times and seeing 30 some pics.
Point is, I had to buy a one way ticket back and lost my 1000 deposit. (ever try buying a one way ticket for immediate return flight?)

Fly In - Drive Out. When I found mine in Florida last December I just told the wife that we were going on an adventure. That was a Thursday night. We flew to Tampa on Friday evening. Checked out the car at 7:30am Saturday. Did the deal and drove across Florida with the top down to have lunch in Stuart. Drove to Savannah that day and finished the run to Northern VA on Sunday. What a great trip. Have an adventure! BE sure to have the car well checked out by someone (dealer?) before you make the trip.
Fly there and drive back. What a great adventure. Consider having a Forum member check out the car first so at least you have a good idea about the car's condition to be sure it's not a pos from a casual inspection. The round trip ticket sounds like a good idea and I guess you can check on the penalty on cashing it in if you drive back. Good luck.
3 and 0 so far for the drive back. Any other views out there?
I go out of state for all my cars. It's a fun way to buy. And as stated above, good bonding time for a quick trip home. You could drive home straight through if you wanted, about 14hours @75mph.
