Steering Column Lock
I've had my '01 for less than 2 weeks. Will a Carfax report show if this recall has been done?

Nope, and carfax is junk. IMHO
Have the dealer run the VIN for you.

I just had my 98 done, and they should do yours as well! I think they just reprogram the darn thing.

I will contact the dealer, but would still like to see the Carfax. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check out Carfax if you wish, (I wouldn't waste my money if I were you) but it is highly inaccurate.....many accidents do not show up on the report. They show only if the insurance company reports the stats to a data base that Carfax can access. Also, accident repairs that are paid for out of pocket will never show up on any reports.

A dealer can tell you - they can pull up the service history on their computer. Or, Sponge Vette can run a list for you.

people may not know you're looking for a carfax and service history because of the thread title, hopefully someone will see it though. For the service history PM Sponge Vette and give him a link to your thread and he'll run a service history (and a listing of the options it was delivered with)

Does the column lock? Is yours an auto or stick? If it's an auto I believe the 2001's did not have a steering column lock.
