I just bought a 99 coupe a couple weeks ago. I love the car, its my first one. Always wanted a vette! So i took it to a corvette specialist shop and they told me that the corvette is in great stock shape! I am looking forward to modding it some time. However, they did say that i should replace the rear rotors when i get a chance. I don’t know a lot about Vettes, but i have been on this forum for a couple of weeks and learn something new everyday. This online community is outstanding, especially the fact that everyone helps each other out.
I hope someone can steer me in the right direction and tell me a little bit about rotors and which one they recommend to replace the stock. Do i need to replace the calipers as well? Would this give a great chance to do my first upgrade? I am some what technically inclined; can i do this job on my own?
Congrats on the new ride, welcome to our happy little world! There have been an ABUNDANCE of brake and rotor threads. I got everything I needed to do my own rotor upgrade from a thread I started a few weeks ago. I think you can click on my avatar and go to the "threads started" or "find all posts"... You'll see the info I got to do my own.
Check any of the other brake threads here and get opinions and experiences on brakes and you'll be up under the car before you know it! Good luck!
