OK, I have a 2003 Z06. I just found out that if I hold down the traction control button for more than 5 seconds, it goes into what's called "COMPETATIVE DRIVING MODE". What is that? A friend of mine told me about it and he said that it turns OFF the traction control but still enables you to have active handling. Can anyone tell me what this is all about?
OK, that's good to hear. When I called the Chevy dealership and spoke with the corvette tech, he said that it doesn't do anything. He says that it's a glitch in the computer due to the fact that all corvettes have the same computer and that the software is set up for the vettes with adjustable suspentions.
Damn, the other dealership is an hour away. He's the ONLY one allowed to work on Vettes. No, accually, he's a great guy but sometimes the dealerships don't know about stuff like this. I'm glad YOU guys are here!!!

Your friend is right, it keeps the car going straight should the rear get loose..

It's pretty disturbing that the dealer "expert" is so uninformed! Read your owner's manual. Check out the video that came with the 2002 cars. It's just as described above. The car likely will accelerate faster, depending on traction and your driving skills. It is for competitive driving with the added safety of active handling. It's the best setting for most drivers in a competition situation. A real pro would likely disable active handling. I would not recommend that for 99% of us.
One las thing, I would definately not take my car to that idiot for any work!
CPT ZO6... I see you’re in Radcliff, Kentucky, but you have an Airborne Pic on your profile. Radcliff is tanker country... not too many tanks dropping out of planes.
I think if I had to deal with the "professional" I would take my Z in and explain that the air pressure sensors are not reading the prior PSI for the tires... that will have him going for at least a few days!!

My turn signal fluid was running low the last time I went in. The service writer accually started to write the problem down on the work order.
