Default Help with garage lighting

I am now using fluorescent lighting in my garage and it seems like its never enough light for me. Im looking for suggestions for lighting, while doing away with the fluorescents. I need something that puts out a lot of light, it seems like the older i get, the blinder i get. Thanks

I have a mixture of fluroescent and some halogen lights in my garage. The haolgen are much brighter, but you need to really think aobut where you place them to get maximum benefit.

We had 2 sets of 2 6' fluroescent in our 3 car garage. It was close to being enough, but we added two more sets on a separate switch "just in case".

When they were all on, we could see our house at night miles away....

Fluorescent will still give you the most light for the buck. There are some brighter lights out there (as opposed to the standard four foot bulbs you are probably using.

Here's a start:

I have fluorescent lighting as well as some strategically placed, adjustable halogen spot lights in my garage. The haolgens are on tracks and thy can be swivelled to provide optimal lighting. I bought them at Home Depot.

You can always go with Hi Pressure Sodium, or Metal Halide. Fixtures vary, but they put out a LOT of light.. Look for different Kelvin Temp ranges.

Up in the 6000-8000 range, it nears daylight color instead of blurred off color with other lamps. Makes for great photography as well.

Lowes, HD, etc has them. They are NOT cheap though.

My garage is 24'x42' and to get adequate light I installed a total of 20 - 2 tube 4 foot fluorescent fixtures. What makes the biggest difference in addition to the lighting is painting the walls a bright white.

That's a great pic. Nice garage

Is the Vette on the lift so it doesn't suffer Napoleon Syndrome next to the two bigger cars?
