Default Keyless entry remote too sensitive?

When I put my C5, the previous owener didnt have a remote for it. I recerntly picked one up on ebay. My only complaint is when its in my pocket, it'll lock and unlock my car so damn often by itself. It seems like the slightest movement sets off the bottons.

Is this normal? lol

Also, whats the "passive" thing do?

Thanks

Mine does that too, and the remote came with the car. We probably just have too much stuff in our pockets. I had a Camry once, and I was constantly activating the "Panic" mode to the point that I taped over the button.

The "passive" feature is so the car will unlock and lock itself when it the remote gets into range. (which is obviously turned on in your case)

If you have to have the keys in your pocket while working around the car, say, waxing it for example... either leave the keys in the ignition or turn the little passive button off on your remote.

I may have spoke out of turn, I think that passive button was only on early model years or convertibles... something like that.

Perhaps another member can confirm that.

My '99 had that passive feature and it would lock/unlock the car all the time when I was working around the car. I finally got so annoyed that I just kept the sliding switch to the off position.

well the passive switch seems to be my problem...except it was turned off

I guess i'll try it on? What weird option...that it opens and closes for you. My Ford Focus sure didnt do that, lol

Same happens to me with a new fob and switch off. Original fob works as it should. Guess I'll just have to deal with it.
