Found a nest in the left compartment in the back of the vert. The little jerk chewed the carpet up and made a nest. I don't know how he got in the car, much less in the closed compartment. I told the wife no more storing dog food or bird seed in the garage.
I guess it could have been worse. I remember someone on the forum had one die inside their heater. Stinky! Sad part is,he didn't eat on the Ranger or the Explorer. I would have handled that a little better.
My 67 had a mice infestation. New carpet set in bach devoured, holes all through it. The mice had built nest galleries inside all to the frame rails. It took many hours with coat hangers to get all the nest material out of their. I freaked out when I was rebuilding the front end, a dead mouse skelaton was sandwiched between the front springs. The skull was looking right at me! This is what you get with 24 farm barn years.
Working in the motorpool, we use to find cats, racoons, opossum, mice all kinds of crazy stuff living in HMMV's and duce and a half's. Try getting a momma opossum and her litter out of a HMMV..hehe.

Same thing just happened to me. Had my C4 stored in the garage, covered, dryer sheets all over the inside. I got in the car and this horrid smell got me. MOUSE ****. It took hours to find where it was coming from. Rear compartment where ASR and anit-lock brake controls are. They made a nest in this closed compartment with all the insulation that was in there. 3 days to clean it out and disinfect the damn car. I put traps all over the rented garage and caught three in 2 days. No mouse is safe from me now. Can't do this again. I have to find another garage and a better way to keep the critters out. I was one mad vette owner. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, ever.
Anyone have any good ideas on how to keep mice away (other than moth *****). I'm even considering a cat. If I get cat paw prints I'll deal with it. It's better than that smell.
I remember reading somewhere that they get in through a vent under the car that stay open when the car is stopped. Is there someway to stop that from opening? Or atleast disable that over long winter storages??
This happened to a buudy of mine also. He had the car in the air stored on a lift and the son of guns made a nest and chewed some wires affecting his heating controls.
