1. Shift at a higher RPM.
2. Buy a connector and use a 2.0 Ohm resistor to interconnect the plug at the transmission.
3. Use a tuning program to shut it off.

The 1 to 4 shift function is totally rediculous! It's seems like they designed the Z06 for old ladies regarding that...

Not really, it's a cleaver way to keep the gas guzzler tax (around $1300) off the price of the car. For less than $20 the owner/operator can dis-able it or drive it as you suggest which will prevent the CAGS from getting in the way.
I'd rather that then pay an additional $1300 (about the price of a good cat-back and intake I might add) gas guzzler tax.
