Default Emissions testing... (Arizona)

I got the dreaded "Emissions Test Required" stamp on my renewal this year.

Has anyone ever had trouble getting a C5 through emissions? The car is stock except for a Vortex.

Also, will they let you sit in it and do the revving? My driver side bolster is on its last leg anyway, I don't need some heavyset technician sliding into my car and tearing it completely...

Arizona does not put OBD II cars on the rollers. They will hook into the diagnostic port and verify the car passes all the OBD II tests. If your check engine light is on or you have any emission related codes you fail. If I remember correctly they didn't even lift the hood of my 99 C5. No you can not stay in the drivers seat I think you have the option of staying in the passengers seat. They will shut the car off then restart to verify the check light is not burned out. It's not that bad really.

My 98 passed with flying colors. It wasn't even close to any of the maximum limits. If you're car runs good (doesn't stumble or smoke) more than likely you'll be fine.

As the others have said - it's OBDII (On Board diagnostics, version 2), which means they plug into the port under the steering column. They don't bother with the rollers or the exhaust sniffers.

Don't worry about this - it's no big deal!
