I always heard it was adapted from a french slang phrase meaning "chap ***" or from the old french, " needs to compensate" , guess I was way off base. Live and learn.

Back in the day, I had an Opel GT. Great fun car. It had flippy headlights. They where completely mechanical. A lever on the console was directly connected to the door opening mechanism. No silly plastic gears or electronics.
