even highly modded ones that run 11's, meh...i can't get over their looks (spoiler, body, 4 doors, 4 cylinders)...for some reason when i think of an evo, i picture a tall skinny 17 year old kid with pimples, baggy pants and baggy shirt, with a bright yellow visor worn backwards while every other word is "yo dawgg"
Dang G...why you frontin like dat? I'll do the voice, but I'm 30, 6'3" and 210 mostly muscle, no zits. If I ever wear a yellow visor backwards I give anyone on this board permission to smack the spit outta me! As for looks, yeah it takes a little time to like it. I do like the color a lot(looks like spiral grey Vette). I used to talk trash about the big wings, then I got one and think it's ok. It'll never look mean like my TA though.
You got it right with the mods. I can get 80-90whp for $3K installed. They actually do these mods and sell them at a dealer in Ohio now with the warranty. They didn't have these when I got mine though. The company says it retains stock comfort until you hit the gas, then it delivers the new power very smoothly. I just think that sounds to easy.
Darknight,
Where is this dealer in Ohio located?
Thanks,
Dave
I recently did hear that Mitsubishi was monitoring SCCA and other clubs via the web to determine the names of people that were participating in "speed events", like autocrosses. Then they were voiding your warranty. No questions asked, no excuses given. Take your car in for a repair that you thought was covered by warranty and "bam" get wacked with a bill.....
Even if you were racing somebody else's car, if you owned one they were assuming that it was your car and voiding your warranty.....
As I understand it the tranny's were fragile and lots of folks were winding up the motors and dumping the clutch to get the 4wd system to launch without bogging,,,, The shock loads were blowing up tranny's and they didn't want to pay the expense....
Seems like they want it both ways, build and advertise a car as being a performance car, but when you try to use it like one you get smacked...

yea, haha, don't get me wrong, i love their performance for the price, it's just personal taste in the looks department
and not knocking, but i once ran into an evo get together at a local hang out, and i kid you not, most were skinny teenagers i'm not the type to stereotype and think that that's the case for everyone (kind of how people think the vette is a mid life crisis car), but i can't help the image i think of when i think of evos

It's Medina Mitsubishi in Medina, Ohio. They are modified by Buscher Racing in Ohio and then given back to the dealer to be sold as BR330 and BR350 models. Check out evolutionm.net and search for the BR350. You can have the exact same package added to an already purchased Evo at Buscher Racing except you don't get the badges.

I heard that too. It's funny how Mitsu is struggling in our market to sell cars. Hmmm...when you sell cars stating 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and use the slogan "go forth and modify" then don't warranty broken TC's and burnt clutches...hmmm.

I know, everytime I turn around I see some really young kid with one of these $30K plus tuner cars. I had an 86' Dodge Daytona Turbo when I was 18 and thought it was awesome. Got it for $2.5K from my brother. I think it's the same with Vettes though, I mostly see 40+ driving Vettes. At least that makes sense though, you should be at least 30 to afford a $45K car.
I have an 01 Z06 I bought new and have driven for 35,000 miles and recently bought an 05 Evo. The Evo is a lot of fun and has a great midrange turbo whoosh. Ultimately, the Vette is faster due to more hp, but I like the Evo quite a bit and take it skiing where the Vette simply can not go.
I guess I'm into 'bang for the buck' cars as the Evo was under $30K out the door with a 5 year 60,000 mile warrantly plus 10 years and 100,000 on the powertrain - provided Mitsubishi stays in business that long.

Oh yeah, I'm 50 and don't care if 'kids' drive the Evo, but then I don't care if 'old guys' drive Corvettes either
This has been a very interesting discussion. Thanks for getting it started. After reading this discussion and giving a lot of thought to my decision to go with a Z06, I realized that I went with the Corvette because, well, it is a Corvette. While there are a lot of great combinations of cars and mods that I could have purchased, in the end, there can be only one... and the one is Corvette Z06. The Legend Lives.
Again, thanks for opening this discussion, I learned a lot from it.

I got a lot of great feedback from this post too. I figured I would get a lot of bashing, but was glad to see this is a web community of intelligent, helpful, and respectful people. I am pretty sure that I will be keeping my Evo and trading my TA in for a Z06. Anybody wanting to sell their EB 03' and wanting a trade let me know. Now if anyone wants to do a straight up trade for their EB Z06 I would give ya the MR.
