You should be just paying for a tune and that should be optional. You should not be forced to buy LS1 edit. Sounds like a rip...

Well how are they planning on "tuning" it in the first place. If it's a wide band o2 dyno then the whole point is that it reprograms the stock PCM with the new values (ie, new program). Not sure what they're trying to sell you with a "Program" in addition to a "program" through the tune.

And actually you may not have to retune with Long tubes....I think it would get the most out of them but I didn't think it was a "have to." Perhaps I'm mistaken?

Sounds like a sales gimmick.

Hey EG, here in ontario....the vette clubs referred shop, makes you buy the program...they charge like $1000cdn and then tuning!!...They say it's cuz they don't have the unlimited version, so you have to buy each one individually...I'm not sure if it goes like that or not...All I know is, if I had to, which I did!, mail it to ECS or vette doctors for their mail order tune..it's well worth it...if you buy the program..how many times will you be tuning....Personally, I waited for everything, and just get everything done at once.

They are just shade tree mechanics if they do not have an unlimited version of LS1 edit and they are ripping you off.

The longtubes will correct themselves to some degree after a couple of hundred miles. It will still run too rich, but you will get a power gain.

LS1 edit costs $500 USD - is the exchange rate now 2 to 1???

Rip off.

sounds like to me. Don't do bother with a tune unless you are doing a cam kit, or heads/cam etc.. not worth the money. I'll be putting my Dynatechs on in about a week or so and I am not going to tune it. Might run rich a bit..but will still pick up some power.

I just feel bad for the many that do go there, and have gotten raped w/h out lube...to pay $1600 or so CDN for a tune is absurd, and there are tons of non forum member that I know (I push them to join, but they're the "Snobby" vette owners, no time for forums!) which will be fine to think, hey that's what it costs..meanwhile, you're trying to explain, No it doesn't!!...oh well..at least I'm not getting screwed!!lol
The best is my co-worker..we both have porsches and I pay $400/tire Cdn whereas he goes to the dealer, (same tire) and pays $1100 because it's "what it needs"!!hahahaha 4I guess my tires don't work! lots of crooks out there.....

We installed the Dynatechs on my 98 vert last weekend. I threw a few codes mostley because fuse #15 blew somehwere in the process. Replaced the fuse anc codes went away completely.

Since the battery is going to be disconnected for the install when you reconnect the PCM should be pretty clean. It will relearn and adjust for the headers. Mine kept running better and better for about the first 150 miles or so and now runs incredibly well. There is probably more HP and torque to be had with tuning but I'm goin to wait for the H/C install this summer for a full dyno tune.

I run the Vortex CAI, Corsa Indy, BPP MAF and the things runs GREAT! Save your money for now.
