HUD question
It seems about half of the C5s with HUD I get into always has the oil gauge showing. I'll switch it to gas or engine temp, turn it off and restart it and it shows oil!? What am I missing?
I've never had anything like that happen. My HUD on my 2ooo FRC stays programed the way I have it.Fuel,Tach,MPH. Ofcourse this is the only one I've driven.

I agree that's how it should work. But I have seen quite a few pass through my store that have this gremlin. I can not frekin figure out how to fix it.

Mine stays on the settting I select too. Wish I could be of help, but electrical problems are way out of my league. Hope you can find out the reason your's is doing this.

It's your battery. I had the same problem and then months later I realized that my original equipment battery was about to go. I changed to an Optima Red top and the problem cleared up.

That's it!
I read your reply this morning, then at work I tested out your theroy.
I started it (`01 vert) switched it to coolant, turned it off, restarted it, and it showed oil. I tried that a few times, with the same results. Then I connected a charger set at 12v medium, and tried it again a few more times. It stayed at coolant every time. As soon as I removed the charger and started it... oil was back.
So I guess when your HUDs secondary gauge resets to oil from fuel level or coolant, it's a sign your battery has one foot in the grave.
