There's been a lot of threads lately about Competitive Driving Mode and I was just wondering what mode most of you are using on the street? I've been using Competitive Driving Mode much more lately.
From: the GOCC are everywhere, even back from "band camp"
Mine is a 2000, doesn't have "Competition mode", but after a day at Willow Springs I wish I had it. Is there any way to update my cars computer? Probably a long shot, but you never know...
Bruce
It's there to make you a better driver. Take advantage of it.
I don't think so. I think its there to correct for mistakes you might not know how to. That computer can think a lot faster than we can
So, if you drive in CD mode and make a handling mistake there ain't no computer to help ya' out.
Not only that, if you read up on AH you'll see that there will be situations where it'll only apply the brake to one wheel under some extreme condition, for example, whereas if you touch your brakes in the same situation with AH off you're applying them to all four. We can't do what the computer can do. Granted, professional drivers might be able to out-do the computer but people like me who don't get any roadracing track time are probably better off relying on the computer.
I think its a VERY cool option. Wouldn't think of driving without it on unless I was an expert autocross'r.
I'm too lazy to keep changing the mode so I usually keep it in the standard mode unless I get in the right mood. Then, I'll change it to the competitive driving.

Not sure if I understand your post but having your car in Competitive Driving mode only turns off the traction control, not the Active Handling. So...having it on will make you a better driver but also allow you to spin your tires when you want.
neither way is going to make you a better driver. i agree with rickko 100% on this one.
im no expert driver by any means. back in feb. i took the car to a local road course in gainsville for my first time. first few laps i kept the car in normal mode with both AH and TC on. after warming up and getting a feel for the car i decided to run in competitive mode. i was AMAZED. you never really get a chance to really see the whole system work together so well. it really is impressive.
a lot of you say.. turn the TC off and leave the AH on because you can still spin the tires. but AH helps control the car and WILL stop the tires from spinning. taking a high speed sharp turn with AH on, if you break the wheels loose, the computer will take control.
dont think you have complete control just because TC is off. while on a road course, or auto xing with AH on... the car still controls you and is monitoring every move. try running with everything turned off and see how you feel then!!!
experience and proper training will make you a better driver. these systems help us survive!!!
you forgot one .. no t/c or a/h .. i turn mine off .. all the time.
i had a bad incident and since then drive without it.
just the other day in traffic, some guy slammed on his brakes a few cars up .. almost caused a 5/6 car accident (me being in the middle of it) .. after we all came to a stop / slowed down to a crawl .. the right lane became clear and i put it in 1st and gave it gas .. at the top end of 1st, I ended up driving sideways but i've learned how to ride it and when it happens now, it's smooth and, from what i think, looks well done.
most of the time i drive with AH/TC on but then other times i put the car in comp mode as soon as i turn it on. Just depends on how i feel when i leave the house.
