I need some help from the experts. First off my wifes 03 AE had the check engine light come on yesterday. Everything appears to be ok, oil pressure, temp and charging, ect. Just turned about 38k. Don't know how to bring up the codes to find out what the problem could be. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also, my 02 had a diff. change about 3 mo. ago. Alls been fine until a couple days ago when every time I go from drive to reverse I hear 2 audible clicks. Could it be CV joints? Rides good except for that. By the way, I went from 2.73's to 3.42's Any ideas guys?
Pull Codes
as far as the clicking I was told to tighten the wheel nut. I had a simular problem, but mine was the boot clamp on the output shaft was hittting the brake line
On your wife's, make suure the Fuel fill cap is on tight. It will set a code if it is loose and the engine is running. Reset the code and all is well.
A gas cap that has been improperly installed or a cap with a bad seal can cause the Check Engine Light to display. In case of a bad seal, the cap will need to be replaced.
A steady Check Engine Light is very likely an indication of an emission control system malfunction (possibly due to the gas cap). A flashing Check Engine Light may indicate a misfire or more serious problem. I would recommend that you read that portion of your Owner's Manual concerning the Check Engine Light, especially the sections about If the Light Is Flashing and If the Light Is On Steady. (This should be covered in Section 3, Instrument Panel under Warning Lights, Gages, and indicators in your manual.) Hopefully reading these sections along with checking your car's trouble codes will give you a clearer indication as to your problem.
