Common problem. GM has a new procedure to seal and cure the problem.

Default Me Too!

Had my 2000 up on a lift this week and saw a drop of fluid at the same place... Only 14,000 on mine. Hope the extended warranty covers the fix.

AND... Found that the inner shoulders of my front tires are wearing bad...

Is this indicative of an alignment issue?

Yep, very common problem. There have been several service bulletins issued on the problem. Part of the problem, as I understand it, was due to the differential cover seal which was redesigned. One service bulletin, issued around Oct 2003 I believe, spelled out replacing the real axle seal and differential cover seal with newly designed seals. You may be able to find some past threads that discuss this futher by using the Forum search feature. Good luck with the fix.

Mine had the same problem - probably the seal where the halfshaft goes into the differential. Common for this to happen unfortunately.

Don't know how new the procedure is, but had my 2004 in to get the same leak fixed about 4-5 months after purchase (brand new).

2001 A4 coupe here and I had mine fixed out of warranty about 1 1/2 years ago. GM paid for half. It has been good since then.

I have a late model leaky rear 04, when was it redisigned?
I have seen many posts of having it to the dealer 2 or more times
for the same problem. After a 8 year run, the general can't get it right.
This shouldn't be!
