Default I am sooooo stupid!

While leaving for work this morning, I didn't clear my garage door.

Pictures are in my blog entry...

I am sooooo stupid!

That said... no major damage to the car. Nothing some touch-up paint can't fix. But the garage door was jammed and I couldn't get to a meeting.

OUCH.

Damn that sucks but I'm inclined to agree with you j/k

That's not even close! It had to be WAY low to get your trunk lid!

Sorry it happened. And I know how you feel, I've removed a side view mirror backing out of the garage before (not on the vette and I was a teenager then though).

Some days you just wanna kick yourself - today seems to be your day. Hope you get your castle back in order and your car all fixed up.

I hate to say it but you're right.... you are stupid. Why would you even attempt to back your car out of a garage that the door wasn't even half way open....

I was expecting the door to be somewhat opened and you misjudged but that wasn't even close.

But hey, don't feel bad.... some days I feel more stupid than smart.

Glad you didn't do more damage than you did.

I did exactly what you did. In my case, I completely broke antenna on the roof of my Acura MDX. Sometimes we think too many things in parallel, don't we? YOU ARE NOT STUPID!!

Default Believe me... it was a complex optical illusion!

Just to respond to some of the comments:

1) Yes, I do realize I'm stupid. In the form of a Stup-a-holic, I would like to introduce myself:

"Hi, my name is Flip, and I'm stupid..."

2) That said, the garage door fooled me because of a complex optical illusion brought on the stupidity I acknowledge in step 1. Thinking back on it, I was looking out the *side* mirror and saw the door up, when I should have checked my *rear view mirror*.

3) I absolutely, positively, 100% thank God for the damage to the car being so minimal (but hey, I'm sure if I'd done a proper burnout and launched well, I could have burst right through the door properly!)
It was such a low-speed collision I was surprised the door even took as much damage as it did! So yep, while it did suck, the door is operational (and will be repaired in 2-3 weeks) and the car needs nothing more than some delicately applied touch-up paint.

Yeah, it doesn't take much for those doors to get torn up... and they're not cheap to repair. Maybe you ought to look into plastic beads like the hippies used to use as doors?

Nonetheless, you're okay and the car needs some minor touchup. If that's the worst thing any of us do, life isn't that bad.

Hey at least it looks like the door took the most of the damage and everything can be fixed. We all have stories of doing dumb things, $h!t happens, no one was hurt thats all that really matters.

Get her fixed and forget about it, but don't forget to check your garage door being all the way open. Had to slide that in.

Later

Darion
