Default Wheel weights, where located.

Hi all,

When my dealership dealer traded for my new 2004 convertible, I noticed that the wheel weights were on the outside rim locations.

I made them remove them and install them on the inside location the same as the 2005 Vette.

Anyone else have this problem?

I have the high polished aluminum ones and thought the outside mounting was terrible.

Wait till you have new tires put on! The weights on the outside of the rims leave awful marks, like a curb rash! I'm talking with the dealership to replace my rims since this was caused by the factory.

I insisted on the weights that stick on the inside of the rim behind a spoke if possible.

If the person that balances the wheels knows what he is doing all the weights can be put behind the spokes...........with no problem

When they removed the weights, the problem you just mentioned was found on one of the rims.

I insisted that they replace or repair the rim.

They have agreed to do so and I am waiting for the rim to arrive at the dealership so that I can get it installed.

Mine are factory mounted on the outside on my '04. Not a problem for me.

Make sure you count the number of weights and where they stick on the inside. I've seen those come loose and fly off just two weeks ago! Friend bought new wheels & tires, requested stickon weights on inside. After driving 110 miles back home we noticed one set had flown off!

Good luck!

From the factory, the weights are on the outside. One of the first things I did when I got my car was have the weights taken off the outside and placed to the inside of the wheel.

Can the marks left on the outside of polished rims be buffed out?

I had the weights removed and the wheels rebalanced with the stick on weights, and I had them index the tires while they were at it (the winged boot in Goodyear is above the valve stem), and the center caps are put on so the top of the flags open to the valve stem. Maybe I'm just a little **** about this.
