This girl i know's Dad is a corvette guy. He's had a 86 and has 2 99's. One of his 99's is a FRC, but has Z06 badging. Her and her dad call it a Z06. I tried telling her last night that it isn't a Z06. She wouldn't believe me. The first give away is the year, and then the color. It's Pewter. And i'm pretty sure they only made 5 colors in 01, and Pewter wasn't one of them. I'm sure i'm not mistaken.

 

I'm sure that you're correct too. No '99s in Z flavor and no Zs in Pewter.

It's not my girlfriend. She knows better. She wanted a vette even before i did. It's her friend that's sceptical. I've never talked to her dad about it, i would think he'd know since he's had a few vettes already.

 

Quicksilver was the only silver offered in 01.

Can't he see the difference between your Z06 and his FRC?? If he's so sure it's a Z06,ask him for proof.

 

Seen an automatic once which was custom made. While I dont know the times, it was suppose to be very fast in a 1/4 mile.

 

Never seen a Pewter Z, however given the extra money, and an extra Z, that would be my first color if repainting a car. Pewter Looks Awsome!!!

 

I had a pewter 99 FRC and there were no Z06's until 01. Nice color though.

 

Go get a Corvette Black Book and show them.

 

This is the type of post that has no business on this forum. Everyone knows there were no Zs made in 1999 so why bother anyone with this stuff? Who cares what a girlfreind may think about something that is totally absurd.

His vette has those wheels on it. That's the only color those wheels look okay on IMO.

Not so........I'd wager that 60-75% of current (all yr) Vette owners would not know the difference............Soooo many Vette owners are guys (gals) who wanted one 'forever' finally had the resources to buy and did so....they drive the car, enjoy the car...but have no concept of vette's than their own...they do not read Vette magazines...they do not read Vette forums......The guy probably bought the Hardtop new....later read about Z06's...saw one and said...hey that's like mine--with the funny roof...and thought "oh cool I have an early Z06 before they put badges on them"........There are more Vette owners with 'little' understanding of Vettes history then you can imagine.....got an 04 coupe owner in my office...loved Vetts from afar for years...turned 45 and the wife said buy one--he did...04 black coupe...all he knows is that my Z06 has 50 more horsepower (the only difference he believes exists between the cars and wishes he had ordered his black coupe with the blk/red interior my Z06 has (and is pissed to this day that the salesguy didn't tell him about the blk/red interior option on coupes) but at the same time he says he feels sorry for me as they built mine with the funny top that you can't take off unlike his coupe........yeah, limited knoweldge..but he does love his car..it gets first rate care and pampering...loves to put the automatic in drive and just 'cruise' living large in his "VETTE"....just like the majoriy of vette owners.
